\"jam-08\"<\/a>The\u00a0Northern Virginia Alliance of Camera Clubs<\/h1>\n

The Northern Virginia Alliance of Camera Clubs (NVACC) is an informal entity created in 1997 by Joseph Miller, with the assistance of Dave Carter and Ed Funk.\u00a0 Its purpose is to promote communication and cooperation among area camera clubs.\u00a0 NVACC is comprised of Member Clubs and Associated Member Clubs.<\/p>\n

In 1997, NVACC published its first Directory of Speakers and Judges and it has been aperiodically updated since that time.\u00a0 Each individual listed in the directory has spoken and\/or judged at a member camera club and would be invited back by that club and recommended to other clubs.<\/p>\n

NVACC actively trains new judges by conducting an all day Seminar on Judging at the Joseph Miller Center for the Photographic Arts.\u00a0 The seminar draws largely from the membership of the member clubs and prepares candidates to effectively articulate the merits of images.\u00a0 Each NVACC trained judge provides his or her view on the role of a judge and the criteria they will use when they judge.\u00a0 Member camera clubs can use that information when selecting judges for their competitions.\u00a0 Attendance at the seminar does not automatically guarantee inclusion on the list of NVACC trained judges.<\/p>\n

NVACC created the\u00a0 Field Trips Guide Book for Photographers which provides information about nearby areas that camera clubs may wish to visit.<\/p>\n

25 booklets on photographic topics have been published by NVACC and may be downloaded and printed or displayed electronically for individual use.<\/p>\n

The Joseph Miller Center for the Photographic Arts conducts special workshops, seminars, critiques and classes for member camera clubs.\u00a0 Some of the subjects presented are \u201cPhotography as Art\u201d and \u201cHow to Look at an Image.\u201d\u00a0 These events are announced through the member clubs as they are available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
