4th Annual Abstract Exhibit

The Fourth Annual Joseph Miller Abstract Photography Exhibit is now over. There were 421 entries received from 101 photographers in four states and South Africa and 116 were in the exhibit. Several hundred folks visited the exhibit. All the comments were positive and praised the quality and variety of the images in the exhibit. Sales exceeded my expectations and one image was sold twice (two different buyers). Many exhibitors reported they are already shooting abstracts to enter in next year’s exhibit which will be held in May 2015.

I again would like to thank Matt Schmidt and Amie Tannenbaum for their considerable assistance in making this the best abstract photography exhibit in the area if not the country. Each of you who had images juried in should be very proud to be a part of this excellent exhibit.

This year I asked all visitors to indicate their favorite image in the exhibit – not an easy task and several visitors said that it was impossible to pick just one image given the excellence of the 116 images in the exhibit. It turned out that picking a favorite forced the visitors to spend more time looking at each image and in many cases to tour the exhibit several times in order to make a choice.

Two images tied for People’s Choice as a favorite image. They are Moving On Up by Matt Schmidt and Blue Spark by Joy Brathwaite.

The judge awarded Special Merit awards to PS Eagle by Tom Brett, Space Junk II by Dan Feighery,  Street Art by Jean Feighery, The Squiggles by Gayle Dennis, Smoke and Mirrors by Erica Everhart,  Spectral Ribbons by John Moore, Yellow No. Three by Jean Pierre Ple, Southwest Sunset by Willa Siegel, Ni by Patrick Stuart, Gamma Glass by Debby Taylor, Collapsed Light Spectrums by Dorothy Tepper and To Hamstring a Horse by Kleonik Vanos.

Matt Schmidt has placed mages from this exhibit on https://nvacc.org/home/4th-annual-joseph-miller-abstract-photography-exhibit/ Thank you and congratulations to each of you for making this an outstanding exhibit. I hope you will participate in the Fifth Annual Joseph Miller Abstract Photography Exhibit which will take place in May of 2015. Details and specifics regarding the 5th annual abstract photography exhibit will follow when finalized.
